How it packs
Type your sizes, hit Find, and a real 3D packing engine tries your gear in every case we stock, turning, stacking and nesting it the way a careful person would.

Any way up
Length, width, height: type them in any order. We turn the item every legal way, so a 30 × 10 × 5 lens fits a 32 × 12 × 6 interior no matter how you entered it. Your foam border is always kept on every side.
Step 02
Packs like Tetris
With more than one item, the biggest goes down first. Each next item tries every open spot and rotation, and takes the one that keeps the pile smallest, so a pedal sits on top of the duffel rather than beside it. Because no single packing order is always best, we run it a few times (biggest first, longest first, widest first, grouped copies first) and keep the tightest result.

Every case gets its own try
Each case is packed fresh for its own shape, rather than one arrangement being squeezed into all of them. The same gear lies flat in a shallow case and stacks in a deep one. Cases that hold everything are ranked snuggest first, so the top result is the least wasted space. Open any result's Fit view to see the winning arrangement in 3D.
The clever bits. A careful packer does more than drop boxes into corners. Four of ours:
- Keeps a few in play. Rather than committing to one pile, it carries the most promising arrangements side by side. An early spot that looks odd but pays off later never gets thrown away.
- Fills the gaps. A later piece can drop into the space between two already-placed items, as well as beside or on top of them. Space that would sit empty gets used.
- Bridges a span. A piece can rest across two items below when their tops are level, touching, and fully cover its underside. That is rock-solid in real life, so we allow it. Still no overhangs, no air gaps.
- Puffy jacket. Set Item spacing and every piece packs inside an invisible foam jacket. Neighbours press against the jacket, never the gear; the jackets come off at the end and the gaps stay.
Three optional controls per item. Leave them alone and everything may rotate freely. Set them when gear has a right way up, or when a set should travel together:
- Quantity. Type ×3 to pack three copies at once instead of retyping them. They pack as separate pieces and share one colour in the 3D view.
- Orientation lock. Tap to cycle free → standing → lying. Standing keeps the item upright (it can still turn on the spot). Lying lays it flat on its biggest face and never stands it up.
- Keep together. Shows above quantity 1. Packs the copies side by side as one huddle whenever they fit that way. Inside case walls, staying together outranks a slightly neater pile. It never costs you a case: if they can't, they split into as few bunches as possible.
House rules. A fit only counts if an ordinary person could load it that way: square to the walls, flat, right way up. So four tricks are off the table:
- No tilting. Items sit square, at 90° angles only. No diagonal rods or leaning panels.
- No gaps underneath. Everything rests fully on the floor or on the items below it. No plank across a hollow.
- No overhangs. Nothing balances past the edge below it, so stacks can't topple.
- No tipped stacks. A stack is built by gravity and stays that way. It never flips onto its side to squeeze in.
Everything errs the same safe way. We might say doesn't fit when a determined shove would disagree, but when we say fits, your gear goes in. Worst case you're told one size up. Never one size short.
For the curious: perfect 3D packing is provably hard, so no tool can promise the perfect arrangement every time. Ours packs the way a careful person does, big things first and small things in the gaps, then double-checks every placement.
